Geoffrey Phiri, born on July 24, 1973, in Livingstone, Zambia, is a distinguished painter and sculptor whose artistic journey spans over three decades. He trained at Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Commerce, developing a deep foundation in both painting and sculpture.

Beyond his studio practice, Phiri has played a key role in shaping Zambia’s art landscape. He served as National Chairperson of the Zambia National Visual Arts Council (2016–2017) and was a driving force behind the Documentation and Archiving Project of the council. His contributions extend to academia, having worked as an art teacher and researcher, as well as participating in international artist residencies and conferences in Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

Phiri’s art has been featured in multiple publications, including Art in Africa and The Best of Zambia, highlighting his ability to push creative boundaries. His solo exhibitions, such as *"Nshaile, Nafuminepofye" (I never left, I just went away)* and "Witnesses" in Cape Town, showcase his evolving exploration of narrative and form.

Currently based in Lusaka, Geoffrey Phiri continues to shape the Zambian and African art scene with his compelling works and mentorship of emerging artists.
